We Did It America!

This is long but amazingly inspirational.

Eve of Election Day

I cast my ballot today decidedly more excited and hopeful than when I cast my ballot 4 years ago. Last time there was not a candidate I believed in, nobody to cheer for and to get excited about. Although I started this election year as a fervent Hillary supporter I am now excited about our future under the Presidency of Barack Obama. He was not my first choice but it's obvious to see that at this time he is the right choice for America. In the last week I've heard of 5 friends that have been laid off from work, our economy is in turmoil and we have doubts about our future. The hope that we seek is finally here. I spent hours upon hours working on my ballot. I treated it as though it were the most important school assignment I would ever have to finish. I know tomorrow night I will be up until the wee hours of dawn watching election coverage with a pot of macaroni and cheese in my lap; not only because it is one of my favorite past times but also because this election counts more than any other in recent history. This is the one that is going to return hope to Americans. This is the one that will restore our futures.

*Unless of course you all vote for McCain, then I'm disowning you and moving to Mexico.

Palin the Idiot

By now everyone has seen or has heard about Sarah Palin and her ridiculously incoherent interview with Katie Couric. Tina Fey has been impersonating Sarah Palin on SNL for the last few weeks and the best part of it is that she quotes Palin almost verbatim during her skit of the Couric interview. I'll try and post the video of it here but since I'm not really sure how to do it you should go check it out - you can google it. Also, watch the one of "Sarah Palin & Hillary Clinton" and the debate with "Joe Biden & Sarah Palin." They are all 3 hilarious yet scary.

Merchandise

I just love political election year merchandise. The only problem is, after November I'm not really sure it's necessary to wear a Hot Mama for Obama t-shirt. I love this tote though!

Dumbfounded

So, everyday I read the news on cnn's website. Today I read this article about how when Sarah Palin was governor of Wasilla, Alaska her town charged rape victims for rape kits. What the hell? I just about flipped out when I read that. These women have already been victimized and brutalized and then you're going to go ahead and charge them up to $1,000 for their rape kit. Seriously? What the hell? How can you justify that? It's already hard enough to prosecute and convict rapists and many rape victims are too scared to come forward and Wasilla was making their situation that much worse.

See article here.

Henry, the forensic nurse, said charging victims "retraumatizes them."

"Asking them to pay for something law enforcement needs in order to investigate their case, it's almost like blaming them for getting sexually assaulted," she said.

I would swear Sarah Palin is the Anti-Christ.

Presidential Education

I swiped this from some news site talking about how Sen. Chuck Hagel (R) Nebraska said, "I think it's a stretch to, in any way, to say that she's got the experience to be president of the United States" (referring to Palin). You know it's bad when your own team doesn't support you.

Let's look at the educational background of your two options:

Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

& Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

vs.

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899

& Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

Hell, even I've managed to stay at one school for more than 3 semesters and we all know how easily I get bored.

Palin Schmalin

Can I just say that I am beyond irritated by all of this bullsh*t about Sarah Palin. I'm sorry but just because I am a woman does not mean I will vote for a candidate just because she has a va-jay-jay. Does policy mean anything? She is not ready to lead and she has no idea what she's talking about. When McCain croaks (because we all know he will) we'll be left with a crazy lady with no experience as President. While I'm on the subject. How irresponsible of McCain to choose a running mate who is ill equipped to run the country in an emergency. Good job on that decision. Obviously he's making such great decisions now we might as well elect him as President. He's so adept at decision making he'll be a natural.

SPAM (the questionable meat product) is younger than McCain, along with fiberglass, 91% of the U.S. population, and my all time favorite food Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.
