Washi Tape as Canning Labels.

My Aunties use masking tape to label their homemade applesauce and to label canned food with an expiration date. I have 8 jars of peanut butter they have given me with these homemade labels. While the labels are useful, they are hideous. I finally bought myself some washi tape for my birthday and I thought it'd be a cuter, updated label for my jars.

I didn't notice it at the time but this jar of jam made for a great little mirror. 

It's true, there are many companies that make labels for canning jars, or you could even design and print them yourself. My issue with those labels is that they are a giant pain in the ass to later remove from your jar when you want to re-use it. It requires lots of scrubbing, the use of oil, or a razor blade. The washi tape is easily removed, and you won't end up with Madonna arms from all the scrubbing.
