My mom, sister and I started juicing today. We've all watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix (it's also streaming on hulu) and decided to give it a go. My mom picked up a juicer at Macy's and we got started, after purchasing lots of veggies of course.
We tried two different juices and I've got to say, they both were pretty odd tasting. I wouldn't say they were bad, but they weren't delicious either. We're going to try more combinations and recipes throughout the weekend and hopefully we'll find something we like.
While I can't envision myself doing a juice fast, there are a lot of health benefits to drinking vegetable juice. I encourage you to do some research, or just watch the movie, it's pretty entertaining and the guy looks smokin' hot by the end.
Check out green smoothies as well, in some ways even better than juices because you are getting the whole food, not just the juicy part, my favorite recipe so far is: Any leafy veggie (about 2 good handfuls) juice of about half a lemon, half a banana and enough water or juice to get everything blending You blend this until smooth. You can play with all kinds of different fruits and veggies, but this is a nice basic recipe to start from.
ReplyDeleteI like carrot, strawberry, apple, a little cucumber and lemon carrot is awesome in most everything thing I have found it make it kinda sweet. watch out for celery and tomato and ginger they can over power things pretty fast :) hope you like juicing it is awesome.

ReplyDeletei want to get a juicer. my cousin was doing a fast for 10 days at it was all juicing and it sounded great. right now i am doing a lot of smoothies. i cant put another appliance on our counter top which is already non-existent at the moment. but once we getting a place that is larger it would be great to to get a juicer.
