Coin Jewelry Collection.

This is my very favorite necklace that I own. I love how her hair is blowing in the wind. She looks so free.
When I was a kid my mom worked as a teller at a bank in town. Through that job she met a lot of people and got to know many of them as they visited the bank frequently to deposit their checks and do their banking. My mom especially befriended the elderly and would spend time with them outside of the bank, visiting with them either at their homes or the nursing homes they lived in. She'd check in on them to make sure they were doing alright, sometimes she'd bring them treats. She's just a really nice person like that.

I also have a beautiful piece of a girl planting a flower.

One person we visited regularly was Johnny. He was a sweet elderly man with a bear skin rug on his living room floor and antique horse figurines on shelves that surrounded the room. Johnny's hands shook all of the time, badly, yet he was capable of making these beautiful necklaces where he cut around the image in a coin with a jeweler's saw. Like magic, his hands were able to stop shaking when he was working on his jewelry, which he loved doing. I was lucky enough to receive a collection of pieces from him because he was just a sweet, giving person.

He even managed to cut the crack in the liberty bell. I love the feathers he added to the Indian Head coin.

This is just some of my coin jewelry collection. I also have some other pieces he gave me, safe and sound back in Oregon, including some vintage brooches. One of them is a gold colored cat with green stones for eyes.
