So I probably shouldn't have posted about how work was going so well earlier in the week because of course it had to turn on me and show its true colors, which consist of ugly demon heads and shades of hearts that are black and mean. Okay, perhaps I am exaggerating a wee tiny bit.
Apparently the bank gets audited every year. On Wednesday we got an email that was something like: Surprise Suckers, you're being audited tomorrow. muahahahahaha! It probably didn't say that but it could've. We spent all day Wednesday going through logs and making sure we knew where everything was and that we all knew the updated procedures and what not. I've left out the best part though, the auditor calls and randomly selects people to take a test and guess who got selected. Oh that's right, me, the new girl, who has been on the teller line for a week. Awesome.
The test is taken on the computer, but since a girl quit last week, we were short staffed and there were only two of us on the teller line that day, myself, and the guy doing the drive up window. So instead of being like everyone else and getting to go someplace quiet to take my test, I had to attempt to take it in between helping customers, at my station. I can't even begin to describe how frustrating it is to read a question 10 or 12 times because you are never able to get all the way through it before another person comes in. So, 6 hours later (I am not exaggerating, it literally took me 6 hours), I only have 2 pages left to go and the program decides to kick me out. Then it decides it won't let me back in. I had to call the help center, have my passwords reset, and then when I was eventually able to log in, two-thirds of my answers were deleted. I was so frustrated I wanted to cry, well, not really, what I actually wanted to do was throw my computer monitor through the giant glass window but I decided that would probably not go over well so instead I sucked it up, finished the last 30 min of the day and went home. I had to return to the bank at 8 pm to retake my test.
Needless to say, I'm kind of hating my new job right now. There are some other things that are pissing me off but we won't get into them right now because it's my weekend and I'm going to go watch the World Series and have a beer.
I would be an easy customer. I don't say much, smile a lot and ony have a deposit and smile again.
ReplyDeleteGah, how totally sucky! I know how stressful surprise stuff is. When Jen and I were working on the lake, AT A VACATION SPOT, on memorial day... Our supervisor upped and took vacation. Without telling us. Leaving us in charge of the entire store (just Jen and I,) reservations (just Jen and I) and housekeeping (us and four other people.) It was chaotic.
ReplyDeleteBOO! I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, but I appreciate that you were able to suck it up and do it. I'm impressed that you held your head high and continued on (I'm pretty sure I would've cried at least twice).
ReplyDeleteThinking of you!
