Pizza Crust.

Just because I enjoy cooking does not mean I want to spend all day making a meal. I've wanted to make homemade pizza for awhile but a lot of recipes call for time to let the dough rise and I'm impatient. I finally found a crust that is quick, easy and delicious.

Ingredients:
1c. warm water - you want the water really warm, not lukewarm
1 Tbsp. white sugar
2 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast - that is how much is in 1 packet
3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups flour - I used half wheat and half all purpose.
spices - I used basil, oregano and garlic. Use whatever you'd like but don't skip it or the crust is a little bland.

Preheat oven to 425.

Mix water, sugar and yeast in a bowl until dissolved.
Add the olive oil, salt, and spices.
Add flour, stir until mixed well.

This will be a stickier dough than if you were making bread but it shouldn't be too moist either. Add more flour if you need to.

Let dough sit for at least 10 min. while you prepare your toppings.

Sorry the photo is so dark. My camera was not cooperating.
I did not roll the dough with a pin. I spread a little olive oil on a baking sheet, put olive oil on my fingers and spread the dough out with my hands. If you added more flour you could probably use a pin without it sticking but it really isn't necessary.

Next add your sauce, cheese, and toppings of choice.

Bake for 15 - 20 min at 425. Mine was done in 15 and was amazing. The whole house smelled good, the crust was really filling and so yummy. I'd eat the crust alone just dipped in olive oil and vinegar and it'd be amazing.

I'm linking up at For the Love of Blogs for Tasty TuesdayBeauty & Bedlam and This Chick Cooks. Check them out, there are lots of great recipes.

  2. I'll have to give this dough a try. I've been using another recipe the last few weeks that I really like, but it does require wait time (tho I'm not convinced it's actually risen...whatever). Anyway, give this super easy pizza sauce base recipe a shot (with whatever spice adaptations you'd like). I really liked the consistency and flavor. xo

  5. That looks so yummy! I usually make homemade crust too and have found while my recipe says the dough needs to raise for an hour, it's usually ready in half an hour. Not too bad. I've also had good luck making a double batch and freezing the extra dough for the next pizza. Glad you found a recipe that works for you!

  6. Sounds yummy! I would love to make my own pizza bases but always felt a little intimidated - this recipe sounds almost too easy.

  7. I love this recipe, we used it all the time in Germany. My little trick is that I like to make the crust on the grill, so it gets that char flavor, and then top it with everything and bake until the cheese melts. Yum! Just thinking about it makes me hungry :)

  14. Yummy! I just made homemade pizza last night. My recipe was almost identical to yours. Mine calls for the yeast, sugar and water to sit for 10 min. then all other ingredients added to it and to let rest for 5 min. I prep all my pizza toppings while those things are setting and resting...yummy!!! I also add whole wheat flour to it as well..nothing like homemade!!
