So, I had my mom send me a couple of recipes for my favorite Christmas food and from there it spiraled out of control. Jake and I went shopping to get the ingredients and he kept getting ideas for other things he wanted me to make.
Haha, I ended up cooking until 1 in the morning, it was fun.

I don't like white chocolate but Jake was stoked for these pretzels. Something about the sweet and salty together. That's why I just eat a bag of potato chips after gorging on
reese's pb cups. I guess he doesn't know that little trick yet.

Batch number one of
Chex Mix. Batch number two came out a lot better. Not enough seasoning on batch one.

This is Jake's mom's food processor/mixer/blender from 1970. It's like, a super early version of a Kitchen Aid. By the way, I want a Kitchen Aid, hardcore. I never thought about buying one because they're super expensive but Jake actually brought up getting me one. I don't need it anytime soon but I'm definitely hitting him up on that one in the future. There are about a zillion colors to choose from, that will be tough. Anyway, this is cookie dough for the oatmeal choc. chip cookies I made, but I forgot to take a picture of the finished product.

Who knew muddy buddies are ridiculously easy to make? It involves microwaving chocolate chips and that's about the hardest part. They're so yummy too!

Batch two of
Chex Mix. Well, really this is batch one with a makeover. I cooked it again with extra extra seasoning for Jake and he had me put it in a bag so he could hide it from everyone else and not share. It's a little on the salty side for my taste.
Jennifer gave me a food processor from the 70s. It is awesome, aside from being 1970s chic. And the fact that it could slice my hand off.
ReplyDeletegreat job hon! it all looks yummy!

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Every year, without fail, my mum and I find something new that we want to try out at Christmas. Last year, it was a gingerbread house which was an unmitigated disaster. We ended up with a pile of gingerbread bricks and my general attitude towards the end of it was "Peace on Earth and goodwill to all men, apart from the swine who invented gingerbead houses". :P
But over time, we've added more and more to our Christmas cooking. We used to buy all our Christmas chocolates but now we make more than we buy. This year, we're experimenting with Chocolate Orange as a coating, not sure how that's going to turn out.
But it'll turn out better than the gingerbread house, that's for sure...
